Leap into learning

We warmly welcome you and your family to Little Grasshoppers. Beginning your childcare journey is an important milestone and we are here to support you every step of the way.

We look forward to building a trusting relationship and sharing in your child’s growth over the years ahead

Grasshoppers is a family business that was established over 35 years ago here on the Mornington Peninsula. Grounded in trust, safety, communication and integrity. Our hands-on approach ensures every family feels supported from their very first interaction and throughout their journey with us.

We understand that starting childcare is a significant milestone. That is why we take the time to support both children and parents through a calm, considered transition, building confidence and connection from day one.

Our centres are thoughtfully designed to create a warm, welcoming environment where children feel safe, secure and ready to explore. Each room and outdoor space is purposefully created to support the age, stage and individual needs of every child.

At Little Grasshoppers, learning happens through play every day. Our programs are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and planned in partnership with families to support each child’s interests, strengths and development.

We integrate funded Kindergarten within our long day care setting, supporting a smooth transition to school through strong connections with local primary schools.

The safety and wellbeing of every child is at the heart of everything we do, providing reassurance for families every day.

The safety and wellbeing of every child is at the heart of everything we do. We are proud that our recent parent survey reflects this commitment, with 100% of families reporting they feel confident leaving their child in our care, satisfied with their experience, supported throughout their child’s transition, and finding our team approachable.

Families can feel reassured knowing that every practical step has been taken to ensure a safe and secure environment. Access to the centre is managed through electronically secured entry with individual PIN codes for families, while all visitors are required to enter via a controlled access point. Children are only collected by authorised persons unless otherwise arranged.

All activities are carefully planned and risk assessed, ensuring children can explore, learn and play in a safe, supportive and well-managed environment every day.

We look forward to getting to know you and your child as we work closely together to make your family’s experience at Little Grasshoppers a fundamental part of your child’s development.

Our Bright Minds Program

Through joyful activities, we empower children to build confidence, unleash creativity, and make choices in self-expression. As they dance, sing, and play, they develop crucial listening skills and explore elements of their identity through imaginative role play. The program also nurtures early literacy with rhyming, patterns, and sound recognition.

Our educators understand the importance of expanding horizons for children, taking them beyond the familiar realms of family and center. Through initiatives like Bush Kinder, Community Explore, and Intergenerational Connections, our centers offer a rich tapestry of Community Engagement opportunities.

Embark on a thrilling journey of discovery with our STEM program at Little Grasshoppers Childcare! Our carefully crafted curriculum in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math is designed to cultivate a strong foundation while nurturing children’s natural curiosity and creativity.

Through running, jumping, crawling, and engaging in activities that involve throwing and catching, we not only make physical activity fun but also contribute to the development of coordination, balance, strength, and overall fitness in our children.

Contrastingly, we understand the importance of stillness. Deep breathing exercises and meditative moments provide our children with tools to manage emotions, reduce stress, and develop self-awareness, laying the foundation for a balanced and healthy mindset.

In this ever-evolving world, instilling environmental consciousness and sustainable living is essential. OUR WORLD is designed to cultivate a generation not only aware of their environment but also dedicated to creating a positive impact on the planet.

Through engaging activities like composting, gardening-to-kitchen experiences, recycling efforts, and caring for animals, our children learn and practice the 7 R’s of sustainability: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Respect, Repair, Reflect, and Refuse.

“In creating Little Grasshoppers, I wanted parents to trust us, not only with the safety of their children but with their education.  To bring innovation and change to the playing field, elevating our carers from babysitter to educators.”

Kaye Ellis, Founder and Owner

“Having recently moved to the Peninsula from the city, we were nervous about changing childcare and visited a few different centres but as soon as we met the Little Grasshoppers team and saw the facilities we loved it! Wonderful team of educators and staff and such a great environment for the kids. Recommend highly!”
